Biography or Historical NoteThe 1913 Michigan Historical Commission Act established the Archives of Michigan. The Archives operated as part of the Historical Commission until it moved to the Michigan Department of State with the Executive Reorganization Act of 1965. From 2001-2009, it was part of the Department of History, Arts and Libraries (HAL). When HAL was dissolved in 2009, the Archives moved to the Department of Natural Resources.
