Biography or Historical NoteThis Department of Management and Budget (DMB) was established in 1973 by executive order. It was codified in state law in 1984 by Public Act 431. The Department was headed by a Director that was appointed by the Governor. The Department’s responsibilities included re-engineering and overseeing the information technology infrastructure of the State’s Executive Department and other agencies, and management of the state’s finances. In 2010, DMB was merged with the Department of Information Technology to create the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB).
