descriptionThe Executive Organization Act of 1965 created a Department of Licensing and Regulation. Headed by a Director appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate to serve at the Governor's pleasure, the Department was divided into three sections; Bureau of Licensing, Bureau of Regulation, and Bureau of Administration. This new Department assumed control of diverse licensing and regulation functions previously executed by many separate boards and agencies and by various state government departments.
